Because i’m an angsty bitch and couldn’t get that scene out of my head.
Short angsty Captain Cobra bit.
Things don’t fix themselves overnight. It takes more than an adventure and a night of video games to build on the fragile understanding between the two.
But it does get a little better.
He finds the boy is warmer to him in the mornings, offering a genuine smile that’s not so forced. He seeks him out too, every once in a while, requesting his presence for a game of COD which has Killian confidently claiming he’s an expert fisherman… which leaves the boy in hysterics and Killian wondering what is so funny.
But there are still times, more often than not, when he sees a look pass across Henry’s face. He never speaks; the lad is too polite for that, but his face becomes uncertain; a flash of awkwardness and unease bestows upon it, and Killian finds his words running through his mind.You’re not even a part of this family.
“So, how’d it go?” Henry whispers out of the side of his mouth at Killian, who is furrowing his brow intently at the video game remote in his hand. Emma is bustling about downstairs, but the way Henry cuts his eyes at him makes Killian feel like they have a secret that is only theirs.
(His heart feels so full, it could burst.)
“It went fine, mate. She was not upset in the slightest.” Thankfully, Henry pauses the game so that Killian can turn his full attention to him.
“Really?” Henry’s brows shoot up. “You’re off the hook that easy? What did she say?”
If anyone else was asking, he probably wouldn’t divulge such a conversation. With anyone else, he would consider it too private to share. However, he would hate for something so small to interfere with their newly acquired step in their relationship.
So, he shrugs, speaking quietly as he looks down at his lap. “That she would have done the same thing.”
Henry processes that for a minute, and when Killian looks back up at him, one corner of his mouth is tilted up. When their eyes meet, he nods.
“Yeah, she would have.”
For a moment, Killian is overwhelmed by the way his throat tightens up and his heart clenches in his chest. By the time he’s even gathered himself enough to possibly respond, Henry has nudged his shoulder and turned back to the television.
“Now, get ready. You’re about to have your butt kicked if you don’t get the hang of this soon.”
Killian laughs, refocusing his attention on the screen in front of him. He catches sight of Emma’s reflection in the dark part of the screen, leaning against the door’s frame. He tosses a wink at her over his shoulder and then looks back at the video game. “Aye, lad. That I will.”
(When Emma nestles herself into his free side, pressing her lips to his jaw gently, he gives up any hope of beating the lad at his game.)
(At least for today.)
Just so we’re clear:
Killian and Henry strengthened their relationship, and Henry accepted Killian as part of his family.
Killian came clean to Emma about his secret, she forgave him and confessed she would have done the same.
Killian made amends with his half-brother, and reunited him with his father figure.
That is how you hero.

Captain Swan and Captain Cobra fic, Rated Teen, ~1300 words, Spoilers for 6×03
I’m sorry about this, I tried to write something happy and instead I made angst.
She can almost forget that she’s living under a death sentence.
His clothes are in her closet and his toiletries are in her bathroom. (She’s amused to see he’s discovered modern hair products but not an electric beard trimmer, and she makes a mental note to buy him one.) He puts his books on the shelves, his ancient tomes pressed against the few dog-eared paperbacks she’s bothered to hold on to. He proves to be a better cook than she would have given him credit for, especially considering his disability.
Her parents bring over a housewarming gift and stay for dinner, her mother smiling and her father frowning (but deep down, probably also smiling) at their casual intimacy. Henry takes it all in stride, incorporating Killian into the family routine without complaint. If there’s a faint flicker of worry behind his eyes sometimes, she doesn’t let herself dwell on it.
