The little girl and the big kid in me, is sooooo excited about playing a Disney Princess! Every girl dreams of that! If someone had told the pimply faced, 12-year-old me, that one day I would be playing a Princess on a network television show, I never would have believed it. Growing up, I always wanted to be Pocahontas, Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame or J a s m i n e in Aladdin.

the whole Savior mythology

hooks-and-feathers:

So I’ve kind of been wondering about something relating to the whole Savior mythology and the price of magic.

Jafar tells Aladdin that Saviors don’t get happy endings, and that people just take and take from Savior until there’s nothing left. Aladdin looks pretty rough, he is weak, and has a bad case of the shakes, and from the BTS for episode 6×01, we know Emma might be going through something similar physically.

So here it is.

It took Rumple centuries of dark magic to get to that point where it started taking a toll on his body. But Emma has been doing magic for what? Two years? And she seems to already feel the effects of whatever being the Savior does to someone.

What gives?

Is it because the Dark One and the body it inhabits are two separate entities while the Savior and the person who is the Savior are one and the same?

I know that we don’t know anything about what the writers are planning for the Savior backstory or arc (although I do really wanna see who the original Savior might have been)

I just find it insanely sad that the Savior is basically put on the earth to be of service to others, pay the price for everyone who seeks their help, and they just don’t get to be happy or just live their lives the way they want to.

I really want them to explore this in depth because after the woe is me monologue in the finale about how terrible it is to be the Evil Queen and how minimized Emma’s time as the Dark One was, it seems like being the Savior is just so much worse than everything else.

I know they were probably joking but in what world with sane ppl hook wouldn’t have earned his hand back yet the mass murdering rapist aka regina gets to have all the love from her victims while still living the life of a mayor/queen…

You answered your own question. Adam was joking.

Which leads me to something that I find annoying about Adam and Eddy. I think one of the most annoying things about them are their jokes, quips and flippancy when they’re asked questions fans want them to address.

Sure they are actually funny at times, but I don’t know about you but I’m not interesting in being entertained by their wit in an interview or panel. We have the actors for that. From A&E I want them to answer the damn question honestly, not deflect with humor. And if they can’t say or don’t want to talk about something, fine, say that, talk around it, address the question in generalities, but their constant jokes… Eh.

For instance during the panel. YNB asked the wedding dress question and after Jen and Colin did the cute “Maybe Emma should go shopping”. “Maybe” exchange, YNB tried to pivot the question to A&E to get a real answer about a CS wedding in the future and Eddy just deflects with the red leather wedding dress quip. I’m sure many were delighted by that. I wasn’t, all I saw was lost opportunity for the creators to address the future of the marquee relationship on their show about fairy tale love.

And that’s also a major point. This is not some action show deep in Mythology or some procedural where the creators don’t want to address shipping or romance. This show is about love. They are telling stories of love. So those question are 100% valid and should be at the forefront.

I don’t expect A&E to say, “yes, there will be a wedding this season”. Of course, I don’t. But I do expect them to thoughtfully address the next steps and future of this love story they have told so painstakingly. And there are a ton of examples of this habit of theirs.

Badly done, Eddy. Badly done, Adam.

Agreed 100%. And honestly I’m not too sure that they were completely joking with the “haven’t earned it” comment after all the talk of this new “secret” from his past aka still more things he has to atone for (because apparently dying 4 times and getting tortured within an inch of his afterlife wasn’t enough redemptory punishment) and him continuing to believe he doesn’t deserve to be happy because of his past; they do love their repeating themes after all.

Which is also why I tried not to think too much about it but yeah, both A&E joking instead of addressing actual questions and concerns from the audience and times like these when you can see they’re giving a non-answer but also not completely joking really frustrates me ngl
