“One word to describe the season?” [x]
In the case of Hook and Charming, their friendship is gonna really develop because I think a mutual respect is starting to happen. I think they’re actually kind of fond of each other, I think that’s growing, and I think they’re going to be buds. And because of that I think there’s going to be major obstacles that are placed in that way. [To Colin:] They’re gonna try to keep us apart, but we won’t let them.
Why this Savior storyline is EVERYTHING
The more I think about it the more excited I get.
Emma Swan is A&E’s ORIGINAL character.
But up until this point her tale has been completely wrapped up in and driven by those of the surrounding characters. Curse breaker, product of Snowing’s True Love, mother to the son of the Evil Queen, and to the grandson of Rumplestiltskin. It’s why I’ve never been comfortable with the idea of $Q or $F – because making Emma a love interest for Regina or Neal essential makes her a pawn in her own story – a piece to the puzzle for Rumple or Regina’s happy endings.
But by giving us a SAVIOR backstory – one that predates the EQ/Snowing feud, one that isn’t tied to Rumplestiltskin’s attempt to reunite with this son…
EMMA SWAN IS FINALLY GETTING HER OWN STORY.
SHE’S FINALLY A FAIRYTALE CHARACTER IN HER OWN RIGHT.
And I couldn’t be happier about that. This arc, and the fact that “The Savior” is a role that has existed for, well maybe always, gives Emma a new role of importance, a real fairytale identity besides cleaning up the messes her family has made. And hopefully it will show us that her role, and her power, originate in something beyond just her parents True Love (which would answer the question about why don’t more babies on this show seem to be magical saviors), that her destiny is must more than breaking Regina/Rumple’s curse. It’s a role that is fitting for the show’s most central character and the heroine Emma Swan truly is.
I’ve always said that Emma’s role is special. That only she is the Savior. But I’m glad that there were others – it still holds that she is the only CURRENT SAVIOR. Her role is still special.
I’ve talked a lot about over the past few years about Emma’s struggle to find her OWN happy ending in the midst of saving everyone else’s. A&E have said this show is about her journey as a hero and the last happy ending will be hers. I’m glad we’re finally moving towards that, and that the struggle for her to do so will be rooted in something bigger than just the litany of villains that make their way to Storybrooke because of her family’s past EF shenanigans. I’m ecstatic that her identity and her role will be about something bigger, something unique to her.
I’m thrilled that A&E’s “original character” will be more than just a player in some family drama stemming from the Disney movie Snow White. In giving us a Savior backstory they are truly making Emma Swan, and the lovely actress that plays her, a NEW fairytale character. I’m so happy for Jennifer Morrison that the writers are finally going there with her story. Part of the reason I’ve always loved Rumple as a character (besides the fabulous actor that portrays him) is the fact that his namesake and a few details were borrowed from the original fairytales, but his identity as THE DARK ONE in totally new – he’s such an interesting and dynamic character – not just a spin on a previous version. And now the same can be said for Emma Swan and her role as The Savior.
I just can’t wait to see what A&E come up with.

ALL OF THIS. I’m so psyched about this storyline, for real, and to quote my favorite captain “IT’S ABOUT BLOODY TIME”
