When Emma and Hook go to Boston, Emma reminisces about the past as the newlyweds are forced to deal with an unexpected surprise that puts a strain on their relationship. Meanwhile, in Enchanted Forest flashbacks, Anne and Calypso’s friendship suffers a devastating blow with shattering consequences.
This chapter includes many flashbacks related to new characters. With this being a Captain Swan story, these flashbacks featuring other characters will ALWAYS be relevant/connected to Emma, Killian and their storylines so I advise readers to keep track of all the information the flashbacks provide.
Storybrooke – Present Day
“I will
cover for you at the station, don’t worry about it,” David guaranteed his
daughter, putting a handful of dry food on Wilby’s bowl.
After
dropping Henry off at school, Emma decided to pay her parents a quick visit
before she and Killian went to Boston. She had encouraged and supported their
move to the farmhouse, but she would be lying if she said she enjoyed the bumpy
roads full of cracks and potholes that she had to drive through to get there.
“Are you
sure everything’s okay?” Snow asked her with motherly concern.
“Mom, it’s
just my annual check-up. I missed it for the last two years. I don’t want to
make it three,” Emma felt slightly bad for lying to them, but what else could
she say? That they were going to Boston because Killian had a cut on his penis?
That was something far too personal and they had agreed on keeping things
discreet.
It’s been a few months, so forgive me if this is rusty. Here’s 3000 words of Farmer’s Market flirty fun and farmhouse sexy times. Modern AU, rated M – AO3.
To her left, her neighbor is providing a constant and delicious kettle corn flavored breeze, a welcome fragrant addition to her favorite day of the week. Saturday, Farmer’s Market day, a day filled with flannel shirts, leaves crunching beneath her boots and a good chunk of money in her pocket. The bushels of apples on her table are filled to the brim, collected from David’s orchard, a small pocket of trees she’s sure he only keeps tended because he knows how much she loves them. She sells the apples and gets to pocket half the proceeds, which she’s been squirreling away so she can eventually buy a place of her own. David and Mary Margaret’s guest house on the farm is nice and all, but she could really use some privacy.
It’s an unconscious thing, she tells herself, as her eyes drift across the walkway to Killian and those stupid blue eyes and friendly smile she just knows will be directed at her. This happens entirely too often, the two of them catching each other looking, his obvious interest raising goosebumps along her skin. He’s entirely too attractive, with that carelessly tousled dark hair, ginger-tinged scruff and wiry frame. The fact that he bakes the best damn pies she’s ever tasted doesn’t help, either. He’s like her own personal dessert on display if she’d only just forget her diet and allow herself to indulge.
It’s been a long time, too long if you ask her body, since she’s let a man get close enough to touch her (both physically and emotionally). And she’s hungry…for both. So, Killian is scary, because despite her feigned protests, she’s past the point of curious and veering straight into potentially Bad Decision Central.
I meant to spend the last couple days taking a few more passes through Chapter 9 of The Long Way Home before it comes out this Wednesday (and I still will, I promise), but after Friday’s episode and Captain Swan’s happy ending, I just had to get this out of my brain and on to paper (so to speak) first. Be warned: parenthood feels ahead.
This is dedicated to my dear @kmomof4, one of the nicest and most supportive readers and friends a fic writer could ask for. Happiest of happy birthdays to you, my friend. Thank you for all your love and kindness.
Summary: Killian’s first thoughts on fatherhood inspire a name for his little girl. Headcanon and fluffy, fluffy drabble. (Captain Swan. Canon Compliant. Fluff. Rated G.)
She comes into the world squalling – squashy and red-faced, with eyes pressed firmly shut beneath a pair of puffy lids, a misshapen head Dr. Whale insists will get better, and flailing, trembling limbs that end in ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes. And, aside from her mother, she’s the most beautiful thing Killian Jones has ever seen.
The day she’s born is a strange patchwork of time, everything flying by in a blur while individual moments almost seem to stand still. Like the moment he first lays eyes on her at the foot of the bed in Whale’s hands. Like the moment Emma first gets a glimpse of her and glances at him with a look of tearful awe and elated disbelief at what they’ve created. Like the moment the nurse finishes all the necessary measuring and poking and prodding and finally hands him his daughter in a small and wriggly bundle. David has been known to say that life is made up of moments. Later, whenever Killian looks back on this day, it always strikes him that he may never have truly understood what that meant – what that felt like – until now.
Summary: “Once Upon a Time” returns to ABC one last time for its seventh and final season, in a journey where the most-awaited answers regarding our favorite fairytale characters will finally be unveiled. While sheriff Emma Swan and deputy Captain Hook try to conceal their lives as newlyweds with the challenging job of protecting Storybrooke, the startling presence of new residents Morgana, Ethel and Scott unleashes a series of heartbreaking and unforeseen events that will disrupt Emma and Hook’s Happy Beginning.

Author’s Note: This fanfic is my attempt at creating an alternative OUAT season 7 that (hopefully) can help Captain Swan shippers get over the real season 7 in the same way writing it has been helping me. This is a continuation of season 6 and follows the adventures of sheriff Swan and deputy Jones. Every week I will be posting casting news, episode descriptions, episode stills, script teases and title spoilers. Visit my blog for more info.
“Mom, you
do know I’m old enough to take care of my hair, right?” Henry’s slightly
annoyed tone barely noticeable to Emma as she went through his wet hair,
tweezers in hand in case they were needed. She had managed to wake up earlier than
usual to buy a specific product to kill head lice.
“Sorry kid,
but not when you have lice. Hold on a second, I’m almost done.”
“It’s
ironic how magic can destroy powerful sorcerers but not kill bugs.”
“It’s a
parasite, actually.”
“Did you
ever have them?”
“Having
lived on the streets and in orphanages for most of my life, those little guys
were practically my best friends,” – as soon as her answer left her mouth,
Henry cringed, realizing how dumb his question had been, but it was too late
now. Thankfully, his mom hadn’t seemed too bothered by it.
“Sorry,
that was a stupid question.”
“That’s
okay,” Emma said, squinting at a tiny, white speck on his hair before trying to
remove it with the tweezers, “the good part is that I now know exactly how to
kill these bast– bad boys.”
Henry
laughed at her sudden change of vocabulary, “people swear all the time at
school, mom. Besides, I’m almost 14. I can handle it.”
“You turned
13 last week,” she muttered matter-of-factly as she playfully messed up his
hair before getting back to using the tweezers to get the suckers out.
“Ow, that
hurts!”
“Sorry,”
she apologized, “just think about the waffles you’re about to eat.”
“Waffles,
really?!”
“Yup. Killian’s
cooking them for breakfast,” – Emma then took the hair dryer from one of the
cabinets and plugged it into the outlet. His hair needed to be dry for the
product to work.
Wow! The way the early morning light floods in through the window and highlights the pattern on the blanket is beautiful. Emma and Killian look so peaceful sleeping in each other’s arms, let’s just back out quietly so we don’t wake them.
(disclaimer: I have not watched s7 and know nothing about it apart from what’s on my dash and I have no problem if you do, go forth and be happy! this was written in like 10 minutes and doubtless will be jossed anyway buuuut. Reasons.)
Emma’s smile up at him is slightly tremulous, as if she thinks he might flinch, or run, or jerk back. As she pauses, gathering herself. I have something to tell you, and What is it, love? and all the other words that hang still-just-spoken between them, as if perhaps he’s guessed already, and yet, hearing it is something else.
They’re standing here in the woods, and Henry is a man, a man, gods, he’s grown up, when it feels like just bloody yesterday that Killian was putting him through his paces on the deck of the Roger, and Emma was confiding her fears about him leaving home, worried that she might never get a second chance. He could hear well enough what she meant by that, and, well. They haven’t been trying, but they haven’t not been trying, both of them too innately superstitious, perhaps, to speak it aloud and curse its chances.
(Curses, after all, dog too closely at their footsteps.)
(Why give this one a better chance?)
And yet, it’s just that, it’s a chance, it’s more than that. This small and perfect glimpse of a future he can still have, that he wants so badly, as Emma Swan Jones’ smile trembles again and she grasps her husband’s hand and brings it to her stomach, never turning from his gaze, as Henry has considerately retreated to give them a moment. (Unorthodox modifications to his family tree are hardly unknown; getting a much-younger half sibling will be about the most ordinary addition it’s had in some time.)
Emma’s voice is a whisper as their foreheads touch.
“You’re going to be a father, Killian.”
(And he is, he already has been, to Bae and to Henry and even young Neal on occasion, he has loved and loved, he has given so much – and yet he’s never quite taken that word, never quite made it his own. It can’t be real, not like this, not with her, her hair like sunshine on her shoulders and the ghost of a gasp clutched in his chest, and love like he cannot fathom in his heart. And yet it is, it is warm and real and bright, the lost boy and girl brought full circle, and all the world begun anew.)

The first three days after Killian changes
back into Cat, Emma can barely even look at him. This was her house pet. This
was the animal that she told everything to. And now, well, now he’s also this
man? But that’s impossible. Magic doesn’t exist. And she tells
herself this over and over, and yet…
And yet, she saw him transform right in
front of her. She watched Killian become Cat, leaving behind a pile of clothes.
There was no illusion or trick to it. It just happened.
After that little display, she’s unable to
even sit by him without feeling a slight sense of panic and a whole lot of
awkward. She has no idea how to act around him. Normally, she would talk about
all of the feelings jumbled inside of her to Cat to get them out in the open,
but now she sits quietly and stiffly on the couch, feeding him when she knows
she should be feeding him and otherwise trying to pretend he doesn’t exist.
She could kick him out, but it’s officially
negative degrees out there during some of the nights and she just cannot bring
herself to do it.
What’s worse is she can’t talk to him about
it. She can’t talk to Cat about her feelings and she can’t talk to Killian to
find out what she should be doing. The whole thing leaves her an emotional
mess, and it’s only by faking illness that she gets out of talking about
anything with her coworkers or Regina.
Killian – Cat – whatever she should call him,
goes on like nothing has happened, like their whole lives haven’t been rocked.
As if impatient with her inability to look at him or touch him, Cat gets fed up
one night and headbutts her chin, standing on her lap and bracing his paw in
the center of her chest. She looks down at him, her eyes a little panicked, and
he seems to understand.
Emma doesn’t know how she knows that, but
looking into those same eyes (Jesus, how did she not figure it out
sooner?) she can just tell that he’s trying to calm her down. It’s like
he knows what she’s going through without her even saying it out loud.
“I don’t know, Killian,” she grumbles out,
looking back down at the point of contact between them. He trills out a
question, and she looks back to his eyes. He nods, just a little, and sits back
down on her thighs.
He’ll wait forever, she thinks, and it’s that thought alone that finally makes her
move her hand to stroke down his back. He blinks at her, a quiet purr emanating
from him at the gesture.
It’s still weird, knowing that this man was
just sleeping on her couch a matter of days ago, but they can get through this
one day at a time.
‘The unmistakable sound of a key rattling in the lock reached their ears, and Emma jumped off of him like she’d been hit with an icy douse of cold water. “Shit,” she said, which pretty much summed it up. ‘
