A few other little things about the episode and the panel that I forgot to mention last night, and one point that I specifically want to address about how Emma reacts to WishVerse Killian.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank you again for your posts about the episode, and bless you for clarifying that Emma didn’t react like “gross” to WV!Hook, because that was something that many of us inferred I think, and it was honestly making me really sad… (I still don’t know I’ll be very happy about the “get you off the rum and sweets” line, but I will wait until the actual episode and the actual line since that one too I think has been reported very differently by several people).

Anyway, your posts are certainly making it easier for me to do as you said and wait for 6×12 to air so I can pretend 10 and 11 never happened, because I still love and adore CS and I really don’t want to continue to be enraged about the show, or to stop watching and be left with a bitter taste about it, especially if this could potentially be the last season.

6×11 Spoilery Anon Asks

My intention was to shy away from talking about 6×11 spoilers, however there are so many upset people in my ask box, and since I did not walk away from the episode upset in the slightest I feel compelled to answer.

Beware spoilers under the cut

I gotta admit that reading this makes me feel better, especially regarding Emma’s behavior towards Hook and the wish world in general. Thank you!

“Why do you love me?”

The question takes him by
surprise, rolling on his tongue is a soft whisper. It is the middle of the
night, the both of them staring at the ceiling while sleep evades them. His
thoughts were wandering, as they so often do, settling on issues he would rather
forget. Can’t forget. Can’t ignore or put aside, for they gnaw at him until his
breath gets caught in his throat, until he remembers he’s nothing but a dirty,
useless pirate, a villain in so many stories. A slave. An orphan. Cast aside.
Forgotten.

Emma tenses by his side. He
winces in the dark.

“What do you mean?” she asks, her
voice just as soft, just as broken.

He closes his eyes, as if it
would help. “In the Underworld, you made a comment about my looks. And now…”
Now he can’t evade the thoughts of this man she met in another realm, this
version of him that has her smirk a little, teasing. Emma is a kind woman, a
kind soul – her mocking isn’t meant to hurt, that much Killian knows. Or
believes he knows.

“You think I only love you ‘cause
you’re pretty.”

It sounds more like an accusation
than a question, and Killian regrets even opening his mouth. This was a bad
idea. A stupid idea, one that will only upset her, upset him, upset their
relationship. He is about to tell her to forget about it – as if she could,
stubborn lass that she is – when Emma shifts on the bed, turning around to
tower above him.

She hesitates for a second, her
finger trembling slightly when they brush his cheek. Her eyes are pained,
guilty. Her smile is shaky when she leans to brush a kiss to his lips.

“You are kind,” she tells him,
mouth against his cheek. “And selfless.” A kiss to his jaw. “And brave.” To his
neck. “And heroic.” On the tip of his nose. “And fun.” His temple. “And
maddening.”

Her mouth is back against his,
teeth tugging on his bottom lip. He smiles, only a little.

“Your good looks are just a nice
bonus,” she adds. A breathless chuckle escapes him. “And I’m sorry if I made
you believe otherwise.”

His mouth opens to hers, his hand
against her neck. She deepens the kiss, moves so that her knees are caging his
hips, her hands on each side of his head. Her hair falls around them, a curtain
against the ugliness of the outside world.

“Stop doubting yourself,” she
implores. “Stop doubting me.”

He wonders if it is even
possible.

With time, perhaps.

I hate that I need to explain this, but sometimes people who love each other very much say mean things, thoughtless things, cruel things, in the guise of telling a joke or teasing.

Obviously it’s not ok.

But I do it sometimes to Mr. Artielu, without even thinking. It took me a while to realize it’s because my parents, particularly my father, did the same thing to me. And their parents did it to them. So you grow up thinking that being mean when telling jokes, making fun of people’s vulnerabilities just a bit (or more than a bit), especially when it has that kernel of truth in the middle, is just a Thing That Families Do, even though officially you all love each other, or do a good job pretending to. And you think it’s normal that sometimes feelings get hurt, suck it up.

So though I try to be less of a bitch, I catch myself sometimes giving Mr. Artielu shit for things, even I know he’s insecure about, because it’s easy for me to do it, it comes naturally, and maybe because let’s be real, I do actually want him to change that thing. Like laying off the dessert so he doesn’t put on extra weight.

Again, not ok. Mr. Artielu was not raised by assholes and doesn’t do that.

But this is what happens when you’re raised in a fucked up family. You are taught patterns of behavior you think are normal and ok. You don’t know any different.

To those of you who came from good, supportive families, congratulations, good for you. I know you can’t easily understand how she could be so casually cruel.

And Lord knows I’m seriously side eyeing this show on a lot of levels, but I can understand why Emma would say something shitty like that. She had a much tougher upbringing than I did. She saw what a healthy, loving relationship looks like only after she met her parents at 28, but not before then. If this scene from @emmaofmisthaven was canon, I would understand what the show is apparently doing. Almost.

Something else I want to add–I don’t mind the portrayal of Hook in terms of wanting a laugh. I don’t mind that A&E created this warped wish world where everyone is incredible different from who they really are. I understand how problematic it is, but I could live with it if everything and everyone in this world was given this treatment.

But instead, Snowing, Emma (before she got her memories), and Hook were all  portrayed as incompetent and for laughs, while Rumple, Robin Hood, Neal, and August were not–and given how each of these characters were actually guilty of fucking up badly in some way (Rumple more than once and still so) and getting away with it (I do think August to an extent is kinda an exception since he did get some karma. But I can get people disagreeing with me) shows more of how A&E don’t even pay attention to their own show.

It just seemed like a way for A&E to go after characters that are honestly more popular than the ones they prefer.

For a long time I’ve thought that A&E are those type of people who think that the heroes are boring and the villains/shitty people in general are edgy and fabulous and/or poor misunderstood snowflakes whose stories are the only ones worth telling (they always focus their mid seasons around either Rumple or Regina, except for Frozen, and the only time they focused theirs on Emma, it was when -oh,suprise!-Emma was the Dark One).

I don’t care that Hook is old and overweight. It makes sense for his character in a world where he never gets his revenge or finds inspiration to believe in himself again.

What bugs me is Emma’s reaction. He making jokes desktop ad little fat-shamey, and not entirely within character. I guess you can say that she thinks it’s not real, but still. It’s a bit uncool.

That’s what bothered me. He actually doesn’t look that bad.
Not that that is my problem anyway, Emma’s reaction and her “kinda live together” all sounding ashamed bugs me. Everyone gets old, a lot of people gain weight, it doesn’t diminish their value as a human being.

Shouldn’t Emma always see the best in Hook?
Shouldn’t Hook have felt an instant connection?

That’s the part that’s messing me up.

hooks-and-feathers:

I’m going to go on the record and say that I’m not annoyed by Killian’s appearance in the AU.

What really, really annoys me is how the writers were NEVER going for any kind of depth with the wish AU.

Snowing were basically murdered, Killian is a drunkard, August and Neal are heroes.

It only confirms that all of this was to bring Robin back for a handful of episodes.

Honestly, fuck the whole OQ situation. They try to fix one thing and fuck up a whole bunch of other things.

And of course, Emma suggests that Regina bring back Robin with her, to assuage whatever guilt she feels in regards to Robin’s death. So how’s that going to play out when his ass has to fuck out of there?

Am I looking at more Emma angst over her own relationship with Killian? Because if Regina isn’t happy, Emma gets all bent out of shape because you know, her fault. She brought Marian back who turned out to be Zelena who got knocked up by Robin, Robin died even though that death can be laid directly at Regina’s doorstep. Not Emma’s, not Zelena’s, but Regina’s.

A&E are bad writers, and the thing that’s as clear as day after the Jane and Adam Twitter debacle post 6×10 is that these guys don’t even talk about all that much. It’s a real world, no it isn’t. The people are real, not they’re not…

Aggravating as hell.

I’m not a fan of my characters being thrown under the bus to prop Regina. It’s enough that they utterly destroyed Snow for that.

Yes, this too honestly. I also do agree that Killian’s appearance doesn’t bother me, what bothers me is how they wrote Emma’s reaction and that they had to make it into fat shaming.

But essentially, this is 100 me rn:

I’m not a fan of my characters being thrown under the bus to prop Regina. It’s enough that they utterly destroyed Snow for that.
