32. “I think I’m in love with you and I’m terrified.”
Emma’s strolling the streets of Storybrooke when she hears the rumble of a car pull up next to her.
“Emma?”
Looking over her shoulder, she sucks in a stuttering breath when she sees Rogers leaning across the passenger side of his Chevelle with a look of confusion on his face.
“It’s freezing out, love. Come on, I’ll give you a ride.”
The wind picks up just as finishes but she continues to walk.
“I’m fine.”
A shiver runs through her as she hears his car turn off before the door opening and closing.
“Emma, love, wait.” She stops at the feel of his hand on her elbow but doesn’t turn and it’s not until he appears in front of her that she finally looks up. “About what happened–”
“How’s Alice? Is she alright?”
Rogers nods. “Aye, she’s fine. Tough lass, she is… always has been.”
“Good,” Emma mumbles. “I’m glad.”
There’s a moment of silence and when she moves to walk around him, he stops her.
“Emma, please, talk to me.”
“There’s nothing to say, Rogers. It’s fine.”
“There’s plenty to say.”
A large sigh passes his lips and he shakes his head. “If you would allow for me to explain…”
“Explain, what, exactly? I think you explained yourself pretty well earlier and–”
“I think I’m in love with you.” Her head snaps up at his confession and the look of raw emotion in his eyes makes her stomach flip. “And I’m terrified.”
