It means a lot to me to hear that, it truly does. It’s something I take very seriously…Emma is someone is someone who should portray that. I consider myself a strong woman, and I think the thing I want to bring to these characters, is a sense of wholeness…People like to delineate into two categories (vulnerable and strong)…and I think it’s really important to bring wholeness to these characters, otherwise you’re setting up unrealistic expectations for young girls…all of those things are important to show together. It means a lot to me that Emma [is seen] that way, and that I’m seen that way…We all make mistakes and no one is perfect, and you need a community and love, those things are crucial in life. And to tell a young girl that those things are not crucial, is not fair.
