Casting On, Casting Off

swishandflickwit:

Summary: “You got a secret knitting talent or,” and at this next thought, she shuddered, “ugh, knitting fetish I should know about?”

She’s all for sexual experimentation and fetishes but, seriously? Did it have to be knits?

Fluff and family feels abound in the Swan-Jones-Mills household.

AN: Um, let’s say that somewhere in 6×01, they
found some time to chill and that it really is nearing December on the show
like it is irl.

I also tried to incorporate Emma’s recent
Savior powers short circuiting but to my endless frustration, I just couldn’t
work it into the story!!! So, again, let’s just say that Emma was so in love
and occupied with her pirate at these moments that she temporarily quelled the
shaking. Ok? Ok.

Now that that’s settled, let’s get on with the
story!

It started out
innocuously enough.

A bonnet hung precariously
on the tall hat rod in their bedroom.

A scarf slung atop the
hook on the rack by the door.

A glove discarded on
the coffee table.

Hardly alarming.
Barely even noticeable for someone as disheveled as Emma.

But even she had to draw the line at this.

Killian moves his things in to the house.

that’s all

He sets the chest down carefully – just inside the door by the haphazard pile of boots slowly taking dominion over the front entry way. His hand itches to straighten them, but he leaves the chaotic mess as it is, reasoning that there will be plenty of time later for him to indulge in his rather meticulous sense of detail.

Naval habits have been hard to leave him, even after all these years.

He must have been more engrossed than he thought, as she sneaks up on him and sifts her hand through his hair before he even notices her presence, nails scratching light at his neck just the way he likes. He represses a shiver but not the low groan in the back of his throat, standing from his hunched position and gathering her in his arms. She folds easily, breathing a greeting into his mouth when his fingers tilt her chin up.

“You wanted to organize my shoes, didn’t you?”

Scene analysis??? Are you some kind of fandom savant that just comes up with brilliant idea after brilliant idea??? Can I have one?? CS movie kiss at Granny’s?? Traded your ship. Please??

thesschesthair:

looool I don’t think I came up with the idea mate but thank you for the compliment! :p

Now hold on to your butt cos this is probably gonna be a long one!!

image

Argh! My angsty little heart gobbles up this beginning bit.

Look how alone he is.

A whole party going on inside and he’s by himself. In the dark. Wallowing in the silence, probably believing that he doesn’t belong.

Killian fucking Jones, you make my organs bleed with hurt.

image

And the last person he expected to join him was Emma.

image

And he gets a bittersweet little smile on his face, locking away whatever emotions he was drowning in and schooling himself for whatever she’s come to talk to him about.

This guy has walls too.

image

Bless Emma.

I genuinely think she jus didn’t want him to be on his own.

She missed him.

They’d just gone on an adventure together, been by each other’s side through thick and thin, and when they were finally back and the danger is gone, when they’re celebrating, she wanted to turn and see him there by her side still. But he wasn’t. He was alone and so she sought him out.

Gave him companionship when he deserved it most. And chose to talk to him, include him, to talk about their adventure now that it’s over and done with.

image

And he flirts and banters with her, keeps his tone neutral.

image

And she enjoys it. Encourages it.

This is comfortable for them.

This is what they do.

This is their comfort zone – their equal footing.

image

But milady has that dance they shared fresh in her mind and his compliments are having an effect.

Her downplaying his flattery is different.

She’s not rolling her eyes or jibing back snarkily… she’s smiling and speaking softly. She likes his compliments and believes them this time.

image

And then she drops the thank you.

AND LOOK AT HIS FACE

THE SURPRISE

THE RAW EMOTION

“What? She’s thanking me? What for? Last time she thanked me was in.. oh.”

A Very Ordinary Night

unfolded73fics:

The immediate follow-up to A Very Ordinary Day. Emma and Killian celebrate their engagement alone.

Not much else to say about this, other than it’s the smutty conclusion to this silly little trilogy. Happy premiere week, everyone! (AO3 link)

Emma looked down at the ring on her finger for roughly the hundredth time in the last twenty minutes. Walking through the door of their house was so completely ordinary, so normal, and she was unsure what she should be feeling. It had only been a little over twelve hours since she’d left that morning, but it felt like days. It felt like she’d run a marathon in the meantime.

The future still scared her. It stretched out ahead of them, day after day after day in which something could destroy everything they had built in an instant. No one knew better than the two of them how fragile it all was, how quickly the person you loved could be ripped away, bleeding onto the cold ground. So it seemed kind of crazy to make a promise that implied long lives by each other’s sides. A promise to see each other through birthdays and illnesses, arguments and family dinners, until the time when they were both old and gray and ready to move on from this life, together.

It’s not that the thought of marrying him had never occurred to her. Of course it had occurred to her. They lived together, and their love was true, and he talked easily of his intention to spend the rest of his life with her. So marriage seemed logical; her parents had certainly hinted about it a few times. But Killian had never specifically mentioned it, and she hadn’t been sure if the idea of legally formalizing their relationship even held any appeal for him. So while the thought had occurred to her, she usually pushed it aside. It wasn’t important. It wasn’t necessary. Maybe it wasn’t even them.

Yet here she stood, in the foyer of their house, with a ring on her finger that promised so much and she wanted it, but she was suddenly terrified that there was no way the universe would let her have it.

“I know what you’re thinking,” Killian said as he took off his jacket and hung it up by the door. Emma could see greenish blood on it from the creatures they’d been fighting.

The Price of Happiness

unfolded73fics:

Explicit, Spoilers for 6×05.

This is what I imagine happened after 6×05 ended with Killian on the docks and Emma headed home to order food for them.

Captain Swan, Captain Book BrOTP, Swan Believer

Beta’d by @j-philly-b

There was a light shining out from under the gap at the bottom of the door, and he hoped that meant she was awake. He tapped lightly with his hook, calling out “It’s Killian” so she wouldn’t be afraid he was an unwelcome intruder.

“Come in,” Belle responded.

He opened the door to the captain’s quarters to see her sitting up in bed.

“I’m sorry, love, I hoped you weren’t abed just yet.”

“It’s fine, I wasn’t sleeping,” she said, holding up a book. His quarters were aglow in warm lantern light, but the air was chilled. Belle was cocooned under a heap of quilts and blankets; the weather was turning colder, and it occurred to him for the first time that his ship wouldn’t be adequate accommodations through the cold Maine winter. “What brings you back?” she asked, interrupting his musing. “Did you forget to pack something in that one little chest of yours?”

He smiled tightly. “Just need to put something away for safekeeping.” He walked over to the shelves, where his safe was located, and disconnected his hook from the brace.
