Petition to change “he looked at her like she was the sun” to “he looked at her like she was the moon” and any other variation bc I look at the moon in wonder and love and amazement while I’ve only ever just squinted angrily at the sun
He looked at her like she was the sun, in that he never looked at her except in frustration. He basked in her warmth, he complained when she was gone, but he never looked. On days she was muted, he complained. On days she was stronger, he hid from her. He never looked at her until she was leaving, and in the beauty of the sunset he wondered how he’d never seen her before.
I worked with toddlers and pre schoolers for three years. Sometimes I accidentally slip and tell a friend to say bye to an inanimate object (“say bye bus!”) & occasionally they unthinkingly just do it.
I’m glad there’s a teacher version of “accidentally called teacher ‘mom’”
when I worked at Medieval Times occasionally I would slip in real life and call people “my lord”
One time during family prayer, dad began: “our father who art in heaven, American Airlines, how can I help you?”
One time my dad went to the White Castle drive-thru and the lady (who was supposed to say ‘Welcome to White Castle, what’s your crave?’) asked, “Welcome to White Castle, what’s your problem?”
She apologized profusely while my dad proceeded to lose his shit laughing.
Yesterday I went to Wendy’s and the girl said “Welcome to McDonalds” and then just sighed
I work in medical information and the other day my mom asked me something about her new medication and I almost added “we’re not allowed to make treatment recommendations to patients” to my reply 😂
This story was different actually??? And even better???
The girl, Brooklyn Andracke, used to wave at the truck every thursday and the trashman waved her back. It was a very important to her to do it every week.
It was HER birthday, and she decided that she wanted to share her birthday cake with the trashman. She also wanted to meet her hero, whose name is Delvar Dopson.
The girl’s mother thanked Delvar for his work and explained to him how important it is for Brooklyn to wave at him every thursday.
He was pretty surprised but he admitted that every time he drove near the house he hoped that the girl would wave at him.
That’s not the end of the story though. Next week Delvar had a surprise for the little girl.
He brought her a bunch of amazing birthday gifts!
They both got quite popular, and Delvar is getting a lot of thank you messages from trashmen from all over the world for representing them in such a good way.
Puerto Rico is about to face a blackout for SIX MONTHS due to Hurricane Irma
Guys, this is no fucking joke. I got family in Puerto Rico right now and this power outage means I might not be able to get in ANY contact with them for the next few months. That means no phones, no internet, no electric /at all/. I won’t even be able to check on them to see if they’re okay. Not to mention Puerto Rico is literally surrounded by water, rivers, lakes.
Seeing how there’s been major deadly floods in Houston, Nigeria, and South India, I’m almost sure we can expect flooding in Puerto Rico as well.
I’m worried for my family and my friends, not just for the natural disasters but the overall state of Puerto Rico economically as well. During this power outage a lot of people are gonna lose jobs, they’re gonna lose their homes, and I personally feel powerless as to how to help.
Please keep Puerto Rico in your minds and hearts and don’t forget to support them in any way possible in the near future.
This is my home, I’m using what power we have left to say parts of this post are incorrect and lack information.
Puerto Rico has suffered a lot when it comes to our electrical structures due to storms, vandalism and lack of government help. So while the chances are some parts of the country will not have power for months, officials report most- if not all of the country will be without power for 3 months while it will take 6 months to actually get everything in proper order.
That’s one, the second thing is that, while they’re saying their structures are fine, cellphone companies are highly encouraging we limit our use of internet due to the fact that if the servers where to break down there’s no proper saying of when they will be back up. So we would be left without power or form of communication because of Irma. It’s as serious as it sounds but it’s also worse. We get no help from the US. There are over 700 people in shelters right now because some houses are in high risk flooding zones and are predicted to be lost. People refuse to leave their homes to try and protect what little they have from the flooding (mostly precious objects but over all pets, since only the shelters closest to San Juan allow pets, so a lot of animals are left in the storm alone to die).
Its going to be painfully hard to get back from this. If you can, and know someone from Puerto Rico, send them a dollar or two, help us stand up again after this natural dissaster. But also, thank you for caring.
tomorrow is election day in my country but that is a bad new because if the actual government win, my country (Venezuela) is going to be communist (plus its an illegal election) the current president, a drug trafficking and dictator, would rule as he wants and that means:
there will be no means of communication
no internet
no more democratic elections
no more banks or credit/debit cards
if i want to travel to another country i’ll not be able to
i’ll not be able to decide my religion cause the president decides for me
not to mention the economic and social crisis we already have. In the last months they have killed almost 100 (or more) people for thinking differently, have been tortured and put in jail without reason! And everything could get worse!
I don’t know if you would read this, but please help us. Many countries have opposed to this situation (we don’t have food or medicines or even toothpaste who is fucking expensive here).
Help my country, pray for us or send help. Do something! People is dying here, is like a war disguised as democracy. Or to put it in terms that understand: it’s like The Hunger Games but worse
GUYS PLEASE READ THISSS
Update: Today have killed 15 people for thinking different, this can’t be happening, it’s illegal and no one helps us. the airlines left the country, that means no one can travel outside. It’s awful, please pray for us. Please
update 2: ok guys, its time to know the news (11:46pm) PLEASE PRAY FOR VENEZUELA PLEASE
UPDATE!!!
Ok guys, they won. they won with 8 millions of votes. but don’t be fooled. Today the polling places were empty, and at 3pm only 1 million of people voted (less than the 2%) My cousin told me that they use information of DEATH PEOPLE to gain votes.
Ten countries don’t recognize this election. Was a fraud election. And the only thing that need matter is the fact that 15 PEOPLE WERE KILLED TODAY, and two of them were just TEENAGERS (13 and 17 years old)
one woman was FIRED of her work for doesn’t go to vote (according to her family, she was an amazing employed). People have crossed the border with Colombia to not stay here
The president is talking now, he’s saying that “the socialism won” that “no one motherfucker (talking about the people who are opposed to this) is going to rule here”. Things are going to be worse.
If you want to help, pray for us. go to the embassies of Venezuela in your countries and don’t recognize this government, this election
