You are not a better person for talking to and becoming friends with people of another section of a fandom.
You are not a better person because you can ignore the hate others spew about your favs.
It’s okay to stick with people who only love what you love, it doesn’t mean you’re rude, it means you just know what your bubble is and you feel safe there.
It’s okay to be uncomfortable with the hate people spew about your favs, because fandom is your happy place and you don’t want to have to worry about seeing negative.
And it’s OKAY to block someone to keep their drama and hate from spilling over into your world. It’s YOUR experience, you do whatever it takes to make it right for you.
Emma: *makes an innocuous comment with a common phrase meaning to help someone out* Killian: *turns it into a pun* Part of Fandom: *clutches pearls* HOW DARE SHE?! Me: *rolls eyes*
So….who here has been married or is currently married? I am. 13 and a half years of marriage so far and my husband is BIG into puns. I say things all the time and he turns it into puns. I feed my husband pun material. It’s hilarious and he is very clever with them.
News flash guys: if they have that sort of relationship it means they’ve built their relationship on friendship, trust, and love. Don’t get offended for him. If he had an issue, he would have brought it up a long time ago.
Stop waging war over something that doesn’t pertain to you. If you have a disability and you do not make light of your situation, don’t knock down others that find solace in a good pun. If you don’t have a disability and know someone who does and how they feel about it, please stop applying your friends/brothers/uncles/mothers/formerroommates feelings to others. It isn’t a fucking blanket statement.
^^^^^^ Yes, I was just saying this last night! People don’t get to tell someone else how to feel about their disability, especially if they don’t have the disability. You’re not crusading for anything, you’re just discounting someone’s feelings and picking fights where you don’t need to.
That scene was meant to showcase their married couple banter again. CS’ whole appearance was meant to be nostalgic. It’s why Emma was in the red leather jacket and OG Killian was in his pirate clothes. It’s why Emma said the ‘Sorry I’m late’ line. It’s why the hand comment was brought up in the first place, it was a direct callback to the Captain Cobra Swan scene in NYCS and meant to show the growth in the relationship dynamics between all three of them.
^^^^^^^
I don’t want to dwell excessively on the latest drama, and I understand it’s just an opinion and everyone is entitled to have those, but the idea that showing a man carrying his baby in his arm is somehow “emasculating him” is just impossible for me to wrap my head around, sorry. I think it’s lovely to see a father doting on his child, and I don’t understand why it was somehow the cutest and most perfect thing ever when WHook held baby Alice, but it’s somehow such a sin to see OG Killian carrying baby Hope.
It’s really fucking sad that the show is over and the drama still keeps going strong though…
18th century Discourse: Women, especially young ones, are ruled by affect and lack critical thinking. Their minds are so soft and their sense of self so permeable that they identify with any fictional characters they come across, and must be shielded from sexual and morally ambiguous tales. The fictional stories they consume will effect the way they view the world (in particular their ideals of romantic relationships), which will effect the way they raise their offspring, which will in the long run poison the minds of our children and destroy our nation. We must socially regulate women’s tastes, making sure that all women are shamed into consuming only what we deem pure and morally didactic fiction.
Never said anything about Colin doing no wrong, and I sure as hell didn’t say that Jen is at fault for wanting to have a life. I’ve actually been pretty supportive of Jen deciding that it was time for her to walk away from the show, even if I do selfishly wish that she’d stayed, so I’m not sure where all that is coming from.
Here’s the thing about all the promo Colin has been doing, and the purpose of SDCC: the main goal is to promote season 7. Jen and the others are not a prominent part of season 7, therefore they just aren’t going to talk about them all that much. They’ve hinted that everyone’s absences will be explained, and that’s about all we really need to know about them right now. They aren’t going to be prominently featured in season 7, so they aren’t going to be prominently featured in promotional stuff. Instead they’re going to talk about the new characters and what the returning characters will be up to. IDK why this seems to make total sense to me since everyone else is so bothered by it. I think they’ve given plenty of reassurance, however vague it might have been, and I’m really not sure what else they can really do to please ya’ll short of publicly publishing the scripts for the first few episodes. I mean, it’s not like they haven’t expressed any feelings at all in regards to everyone leaving. I just don’t know what more you want them to do that will make you feel better?? Losing so much of the cast is a huge blow, and we’ve had plenty of time to come to terms with it. Now it’s time to move on and focus on season 7 and what it’s actually going to be about instead of lingering on what’s already done.
The amount of Colin hate I’ve seen since yesterday is gross and unnecessary and it needs to stop.
BLESS. THIS. POST
It’s cute how people “love” celebrities only when they’re acting exactly like they want them to, and the second they don’t it’s like a personal offense.
Newsflash: you’re not the one to decide how a total stranger must act and you sure as hell aren’t entitled to anything. Sit tf down
Ok sorry I just have to rant but I am DONE with the accusations in this fandom, from women to women, of fans “only seeing Killian as a self insert” and worse saying that is the reason why they’re going to put cursed!Killian with someone else.
That’s insulting to everyone, not to mention quite misogynistic to imply that women finding a male character/actor attractive are somehow wrong or should be ashamed of themselves, but it’s also insulting to Colin as an actor and to Killian himself, you’re reducing him to a love interest why is that ok?
I just don’t know man, I’m just tired of seeing that accusation that has been going around forever, finding Killian attractive is not a crime and doesn’t mean we love Emma any less.
(2/2) food and telling you that it’s delicious before you have the chance to taste it yourself. I’m not trying to rage on him. Like I said, it’s good that he’s excited about season 7. I just feel like he’s trying to shove how good it is in my face before I have a chance to consider it.
Honestly, I think people are just projecting onto Colin their general disappointment with the direction that the show is going. People are way too nitpicky with Colin’s social media posts if you ask me .. and you did ask me since you came to my inbox.
He’s doing his job and he’s putting in a little extra effort in this year because they need it now more than ever. And based on the number of events that he is doing to promote the new season I think it’s pretty clear that ABC is counting on him to generate as much interest as possible.
Honestly for a long while now I’ve seen that most people who claim to be Colin’s fans only actually like him when he acts the exact way they want him to act. It’s become entirely loathsome tbh, I’ve been forced to start blocking CSer’s twitter accounts lately and that makes me sad tbh.
Colin’s an actor in a show. He is making a thing. He wants people to watch and enjoy the thing he’s making. That’s how it is for everyone who makes things.
And if you don’t like the thing, or don’t want to like the thing, or are worried you might not like the thing, guess what… he still has the right to talk about it and promote it as much or as little as he wants.
