‘Once Upon a Time’ First Look: Hook’s Wedding Suit – Plus, Colin O’Donoghue on Why Fans will Be ‘Very Happy!’

storybrookemirror:

Killian Jones has never looked so dashing!

We know that many Once Upon a Time fans are currently counting down the seconds until Hook and Emma tie the knot in the upcoming musical extravaganza. (FYI, it’s only 1,209,600 seconds away.) So we’ve got something that is going to curb your Captain Swan cravings!

ET has your first look photo of Hook looking oh-so dashing in his wedding tux, plus exclusive details from set about how this velvet suit was selected, and why fans are going to be “very happy” with Emma and Killian’s journey down the aisle.

“I think I can probably credit [Once Upon a Time showrunner] Eddy [Kitsis] for this look,” star Colin O’Donoghue dished of his suit to ET during a joint interview with Jennifer Morrison on Once’s Vancouver set last month. “We were going to go in a different direction and Eddy was like, ‘It has to be black velvet!’ So that’s it – it’s black velvet.”

“It’s really soft though,” the 36-year-old actor added with a laugh.

Kitsis further explained to ET that he and co-executive producer Adam Horowitz had a very specific vision in mind when it came to Hook’s look.

“Adam and I both thought that Hook needed to have a tux that reflects his personality, so you can’t go from leather to just a basic tux,” he revealed. “We felt like he had to have a little edge to it so the velvet felt like the Hook-version of fancy.”

When asked if he feels “suave” in his wedding attire, O’Donoghue was bashful with his response. “I guess so,” he chuckled. “I hope it looks OK.”

“You look amazing!” co-star Jennifer Morrison chimed in while looking dazzling herself in her intricately laced wedding gown. “He’s been getting a little jealous about all of the attention the dress has been getting, so I’m trying to butter him up a little bit about his velvet jacket.”

While Morrison hopes that “brains explode” when Captain Swan fans finally witness Emma and Killian’s vows to one another, O’Donoghue was a bit more sentimental with his predictions.

“I think that they’ll be very happy,” he said. “Because even to get to this point in this season, they’ve had such ups and downs. So to get to this place, within the realm of what’s about to happen to them and all that kind of stuff, is pretty impressive.”

O’Donoghue continued, “They’ve just decided that, ‘You know what? We love each other, we want to be together and now is the time to do it.’”

Day 101: Emma’s wedding gown! So much love and thought went into this dress. Just as #onceuponatime pulls from fairytales and literature – for the wedding, Eddy, Adam, Edwardo, and I felt it would be wonderful to pull from the real life fairytale of Grace Kelly. It is a dress that represents the elegance and simplicity of classic timeless strength mixed with the delicacy of feminity and vulnerability. It is the ultimate balance that Emma has been fighting for throughout the 6 seasons. A wholeness. A balance. Not all one thing or another – But rather, a moment that is genuinely, truly, authentically her without barriers and walls. A woman surrounded by people she loves and is loved by, willing to fight to protect them all as well as herself. The joy of a timeless balance. So honored to wear such a beautiful gown. Edwardo and his team created a piece of art once again. The perfect way to end this round of #101smiles #emmaswan

I need a scene where Killian and Emma are lying in bed together, either post-sex or even just chillin in their PJs, looking into each other’s eyes, maybe talking about whatever… and then Killian starts saying something like, “When we decide to start planning…” and Emma just stares at him for a minute and then she’s just, “I changed my mind. I don’t wanna wait. Like you said, the future is uncertain, but I am certain of you, of us. And I don’t want to put off our lives just because we don’t know what’ll happen tomorrow.”

“Amazing as always, Swan,” he huffed. Emma smiled lazily; he was sprawled out in the middle of the bed with his eyes closed. He hadn’t moved since she’d dismounted and made her way to the bathroom to clean up. After pulling her hair into an elastic and going back to the bedroom, she looked over at him, feeling smug about how he seemed totally boneless and sated.

“You weren’t so bad yourself,” she chuckled, kicking at a black pile that was either his pants or hers. She gave up quickly, way too tired to actually get dressed and grabbed for a soft and worn t-shirt she’d re-tossed on a chair right after he’d folded it and scolded her for continually not putting anything away.

“What can I say, I was feeling amorous.”

“Was?”

She’d purposely put mischief in her voice when she said it, just so he’d crack open his eyes and look at her in that way he had. She wasn’t disappointed; first his one eyebrow lifted in interest, then the other, pulling both his eyes open to fix her with that devil-eyed blue gaze he had, watching as she shrugged into just the t-shirt before making her way back to the bed.

“Never say you haven’t been properly fucked, love.”

“I never do.”

About the wedding dress

hooks-and-feathers:

Let me just speak my piece (my peace? piece?) about the Emma’s wedding dress.

Yes, it’s an almost copy of Grace Kelly of Monaco’s dress. I always thought that dress was beautiful, and Kate Middleton’s Alexander McQueen looked a lot like it.

Here’s the thing with Emma and the dress though. Emma was born a princess. The dress may not reflect her 100%, but it reflects where Emma is right now in her life and where she comes from.

The opening episode of the second half of the season was all about how Emma chose her name, how this orphaned, runaway little girl chose her last name, and after almost 6 seasons, it feels like she’s finally completed her journey.

Grace Kelly wasn’t born into royalty, she married into it. And for 28 years of her life, Emma had no clue where she came from or who she was, and when she found out, it was the title of Savior that took over everything in her life.

She got to be a princess for like an hour when she and Killian went to Midas’ ball during the season 3 finale.

And the wedding dress makes her look like a damn fairytale princess. It may not be who she is or will ever be, but it is what she is, she was born a princess.

And the thing is, after the first proposal, Emma told her mother that she never thought this would happen for her, and when she said that, I started wondering if she ever stopped and looked at wedding magazines when she was younger and how she put that dream away because she didn’t think it would happen for her.

A lot of women, when they’re prepping for the big day, what they wanna look like is a princess. It’s the one day they go all fucking out, balls to the wall and live out this fantasy. Maybe Emma wants to live this out too, and I imagine that her parents (mother’s) opinion on this will matter a lot.

This isn’t just Emma Swan, bailsbond person, mother of a teenager, Savior and so on.

This is about Emma Swan, the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, who has both her parents walking her down the isle, getting married to the man she loves.

I just think the dress is part of the journey. And more than that, it’s about her roots.

If people don’t like it, that’s fine. I mean I’m in the middle of hating on Killian’s outfit. Been hating on it for weeks now.

Just about 900 words of entirely unedited Momzilla!Snow crack!fic. I highly recommend eloping, btw. It’s excellent. AO3

Snow grabbed another magazine from a bag under the table. “Oh you’ll love this one, Emma. There’s the most perfect place-setting in this one. Unfortunately the centerpieces are horrendous, but this one has some pretty good starting points. Of course we would want to choose a different colour scheme, none of these have enough panache. Definitely not for the first royal wedding in town!” She wrestled with another bag, eventually spilling its contents out onto the table. “Now I know you both love red, but what you thought about a light blue and silver? It’s a much more elegant combo. Oh! Who are your bridesmaids? Have you asked anyone yet? What about Killian, who are his groomsmen? You know, we really need to get you a dress appointment as soon as possible. Whoever is going to be in the bridal party should really be chosen and asked within the next few days so we can get on that.”

Emma glanced at her hand, a grin sneaking across her face. “Sure Mom, sounds great.”

She heard the slightest creak over her mom’s constant chatter and looked up to see Killian about to join them. She shook her head as much as she could get away with, and he paused out of sight, shooting her a confused shrug. Emma stared pointedly while Snow’s wedding talk sunk in and he nodded. One dramatically enthusiastic blown-kiss later, and he was sneaking out, her attention returning to the overloaded table with her mother none the wiser.
