Major headdesk at those certain CSers on Twitter. -_- Who even started the Emma/August thing? That one anon dropping the same nervous nelly message into everyone’s inbox? Or was it someone who claims that they saw them on set?

hooks-and-feathers-deactivated2:

I don’t know who started it, I don’t know who said what, in the end, I think it’s just something that went from zomg! Killian is an old guy and I guess devolved into a whole August and Emma are a couple, because women can’t possibly have platonic relationships with men, or date men that are older.

Episode 4×04

Emma: Should have known you’d be old-fashioned, given your age… what are you, like 300?

Hook: Curses and Neverland may have given me experience. But as you can see, I’ve retained my youthful glow.

Episode 4×06

Hook: Believe it or not, I was once a child.

Emma: Yeah, like a million years ago.

Hook: It was more like 200.

Episode 4×08

The Snow Queen: Every family has their ups and downs.

Emma: You see, no, you and I… We are not family. I have one of those, and it spans three generations and 400 years.

So to recap, Emma already knows that the man she’s dating, the man she’s in love with, the man who is her true love, she knows that his body does not reflect his real age. And she gives very little fucks about that. What matters to her is that she loves him and he loves and what they have is important enough that she went to the Underworld to get him back.

The writers built a story that’s an against all odds story. Emma and Killian aren’t from the same world at all, he should have died a long time ago. They weren’t in each others’ orbit for a whole year, she became the Dark One, he died…

If anyone thinks that white hairs and a few wrinkles will stop those two, I think they’re in for a big surprise.

My husband and I joke around that we will be together for the next 80 years, and he walks around pretending he has a cane, and his back is hunched and he pretends he has no teeth when he talks because he’s an idiot that way. But the first time he did that, he told me that it didn’t matter how old I got to be, because he’d always see me the way he saw me the first time he laid his eyes on me.

Because real love is fucking ageless.

Emma has loved the pirate, the prince, the shy deckhand and the Dark One, she’ll probably love this older version too. Because at the end of the day, the man she loves is Killian Jones and he embodies all of those things. And vice versa.

Throughout Killian’s story, I loved watching Emma’s face. Jennifer Morrison played her reactions perfectly. There was the loveliest look of soft adoration on her face, as if it was hitting her all over again that someone loves her as much as Killian does […] That’s what True Love is all about—it’s the gentle reminder of who you are when you feel lost and the stable, unwavering belief that allows you to be your strongest self even when that seems impossible. Emma’s hand stopped shaking because she finally allowed someone to help her; she finally stopped believing she had to carry all of her fears and insecurities alone. Killian’s love and support made her stronger.

6.07 Heartless

thisisevenharderthannamingablog:

Another solid episode with lots to talk about. I feel like this show is strongest when it focuses on its core themes, and it doesn’t get any more basic than True Love. I’m also enjoying the slower pacing this season; they have the luxury of having a central story and letting a couple of subplots cook along in the background.

But first, have a very important dog.

Before she met Killian, do you think Emma had ever been told before that she can do anything?…Just outright, without hesitation?

It makes me emotional to think about the lost girl who grew up with no one telling her she was special; and you can see in the look on her face in tonight’s scene how overwhelmed she is by Killian’s complete faith in her.

Agh, these two will be the death of me.

This is exactly why this scene hit me so hard. It wasn’t the sheer romance of the hand kiss or the story-telling or Killian’s eyes going soft (though that certainly didn’t hurt). But rather that unwavering belief that Killian has in her – has ALWAYS had in her – and it just…fucks me up so bad.

Yes, please, tell me how this relationship is unhealthy compared to some others on this show.

allofthismatters:

I think everyone generally thinks of Emma as having a communication problem; she puts up walls, she couldn’t say I Love You for the longest time, she’s kept this secret, etc.

But Killian has major communication issues, too. And I think it stems from still feeling, maybe even subconsciously, that he is still bad, still full of shame, still undeserving of anything good, and still hasn’t earned the right to have a say in what happens to his happiness.

Emma wants the shears gone? He could have easily said ‘Hang on, I’m not comfortable with throwing away my true love’s only chance to survive quite yet, let’s talk about this for a bit please.’ That would be a perfectly reasonable objection, and I’m sure Emma would have listened.

He has no problem telling Emma how much he loves her, and no problem supporting people when they have emotional distress.

But he doesn’t seem to ever think that his own emotional distress is deserving of attention or merit. I love that about him because it’s so real. So many people are like this. But it’s a problem that he hides very well and that really needs addressing.

Why We Are Obsessed With CS Coffee

elaine-spades:

It’s not because we are all horny AF, though that could be the reason for some of you. But for others, including myself, it’s like this:

CS is the relationship that made some of us believe in finding someone and having it feel just like a fairytale, no matter how bad things get. For some of us, we base our idea of the perfect relationship on this gloriously imperfect and complicated couple

We’ve seen a lot. Their first kiss, first date, first couple fight, first “I love you”’s, and when they agreed to move in together. Yet we still want to see even more. Why? Because when we are watching them, we are essentially watching the relationship we hope to have, and when CS has some sort of progression off screen, we get upset, we feel cheated. Because it feels like the writers are making us skip moments of our own relationship

Any sort of romantic relationship has a a sexual theme to it, even if none of the people in the relationship are interested in sex at all! In a relationship, sex is kind of a big deal, if the people in the relationship choose to have it with each other, and we want to see the aftermath of first time together because we want to see the entirety of our ideal relationship, and skipping details is like giving someone half an instruction manual. Even if we never get the X rated version, the “have they had coffee yet?” is important because having sex with your partner is something we all want to know if we’ve done yet, and we want to see our relationship role models react to having shared that sort of intimacy

Line by Line: A Study of Hook’s Dialogue in Every Episode – 2.06 Tallahassee pt 2

ripplestitchskein:

Continuing my examination of Killian’s dialogue, especially where it concerns prediction or foretelling of future events, being the voice of truth or reason in the face of direct opposition, or just having a greater awareness of events based on his enhanced perception and human insight. These are of course my own interpretations of his dialogue, I’m sure others have different thoughts and I might forget things.

I obviously have ALOT to say about this episode, and he has a lot of very important lines, so I’m splitting this into multiple parts:

Previously: 2.06-Tallahassee pt 1

2.06- Tallahassee pt 2

_____

Emma: Don’t think I’m taking my eyes off you for a second.

Hook: I would despair if you did.

I left Emma’s line in for context, but I feel like a lot of us are very familiar with this quote, and it has lead to many a painful gifset.

This line, to me, is actually extremely significant both in terms of this individual episode, but throughout their relationship in a variety of contexts.

Despair is a big trigger for Killian for both his vengeance and just his bad decision making in general. Despair from loss in particular, such as the loss of a loved one or a beloved object (Liam, Milah, The Jolly Roger), or the loss of an avenue for the completion of his vengeance (Ursula). As well as just general despair related to being seen as, or feeling, unworthy (Bae’s rejection, his father’s disregard, etc). Almost every low point or villainous act in Killian’s life is related to despair which is why the theme of hope is so important for him in particular.

In this episode they begin their journey with Killian’s hope (I was hoping…) and they end it with Emma literally taking her eyes off him by walking away and leaving him behind, prompting his return to despair and thus to the track of his vengeance.

As we go through the motions of their relationship this is a prevalent motif, with Killian gradually handling this better and better as he moves further and further along the path of redemption, pulling himself further away from that despair.

This is repeated a few times, in varying degrees. When he feels he’s lost her to Neal he propositions Tink, when he is forced back to EF he sacrifices Ariel’s happy ending for The Jolly Roger, when he loses her to the DO he makes an ill-fated bargain with Zelena, etc.

A lot of people credit Emma with his redemption but it’s more that the hope Emma brings into his life pushes away the despair that is a catalyst for so many of his bad choices. It is the lack of despair that allows him to make better, more heroic decisions, not Emma herself, just the light and hope she instills in him that help keep the darkness and despair at bay.

That’s not to say he is without hope during these darker times, just that the direction of that hope gradually changes to “lighter” things, whereas his hope at the peak of his vengeance is literally murder. I know this seems a bit strange, but once Killian has purpose he never gives up.

Never.

Even at his darkest times he always has that drive. Even when he is literally dying he has hope for Emma’s future, and that he’ll get to see her reunite the blades of Excalibur.

And that kind of determination REQUIRES hope, one way or another, this interaction just marks the beginning of a shift from the hope for a finite endgame to hope for a future.

It will take him quite a bit to get there though.

Hook: First beanstalk? Well, you never forget your first. You know, most men would take your silence as off-putting, but I love a challenge.

One of the things I always talk about with Tallahassee is how hard they beat you over the head with the blossoming romance aspect of it, or as a journey of two potential love interests. It starts with, (as all happy endings do) “I was hoping it’d be you.”, our first indication that Hook is approaching Emma from a level of interest that is more than a potential alliance.

This line is the second indication this is a romantically under toned adventure.

Killian and Emma are such twin souls that it shatters my soul.

As much as they’ve done to try to move on from their pasts, to let people in, to love themselves, they still struggle. Emma doesn’t know who she is if she isn’t the savior. Killian still struggles to forgive himself for his past mistakes.

Yet, Killian doesn’t see “The Savior”, he sees Emma and loves her with everything that comes with her. Emma doesn’t see “Captain Hook”, she sees her Killian and everything that comes with him. Even though they struggle to accept themselves the other one loves them unconditionally and supports them no matter what.

My love for them both separately and as the most amazing couple that has ever existed cannot be described in words.

I want to talk about this scene …

I really loved this moment. Emma didn’t want anyone to know how serious her problem is and here she can’t hide it. But instead of being upset with her for her obvious lie he just concentrates on comforting her.

There are so many things going on with the expression on Killian’s face. He is primarily concerned. She’s so clearly in distress and he just wants to stop her fear so he takes her hand in his.

And then he looks to her …

Because he knows that she has been keeping how bad this is from him and he doesn’t know why. He pulls her into a hug to let her know that he is there and will always be there for her. But he is clearly frustrated that she is keeping this from him.

What I really love about their relationship is the way they give each other time. In the diner he made a remark about how they are taking things “quite slow” and Emma confides to Archie that she’s aware he’s waiting for her to ask him to move in. They are able to communicate without words but still be patient enough to wait for the words to be spoken.

I think Killian was genuinely shocked that she asked him to move in so fast. He knows there is something wrong with her so he was probably counting on waiting much longer for her to get passed whatever is holding her back.

that was what captured me too about this scene: that he’s again, and always, putting her first. It’s not about his hurt feelings, his fear of her maybe not trusting him enough to open up completely… she knows she has been lying to him about this, and yet – she needs him, his strength and his comfort now, and he’s going to give it to her.

All of this!!!

And can we also talk about the fact that he’s taking her hand? I just love that little gesture because hands is one of their things, and that touch of comfort, showing how he’s there for every shaky part of her, how they are in this together by dealing with the hand issue together. I just can’t!

Thank you for this post because when I was reading it I thought how this was maybe the most underrated moment of that perfect episode, and it needed to be addressed properly.

OUAT 6×03 Meta Analysis: Captain Swan/Swan-Jones Family Edition

captainswan-with-love:

I
just want to start by saying that this was one of the best episodes we’ve seen
in a long time, and I credit it all to Jane Espenson and Jerome Schwartz.  They’re both amazing writers individually,
but hot damn are they even more amazing together!!
All of the CS/Swan-Jones family scenes possessed major amounts of
foreshadowing and symbolism, which I’m going to be discussing as I analyze most
of the scenes regarding either Captain Swan, Captain Cobra, or the Swan-Jones
family.

Quick
disclaimer:  None of the gifs used in
this meta were made by me.  I have
provided links and blog names under each gif in order to give the creators
proper credit.  If one or more of your gifs has
been used and you would like me to remove them from this post, please let me
know.

Now,
without further ado, let’s get to the analysis!
