Count me as one of the people who was extremely disappointed with the Killian backstory that we got on the show in relation to his parents (or father, that is). There were so many things they could have done and yet they decided to bring Brennan as a plot point for ONE episode where a lot of things happened at once. Other than that CS scene and the final scene of the episode, I can’t say I’m a fan of 5×11. The episode felt too crowded and, as a Killian fan, I would’ve liked to see an actual storyline involving his parents (if not both, at least one of them).

And now entering headcanon territory…

Emma and Killian have always been presented as kindred spirits that have faced many of the same challenges and experiences over the years until they found each other.

They were abandoned.
They lost people they loved.
They became criminals in their own way.
They have changed and became better people because of love.
They have found home after being lost children.

It certainly seems like fate put them on each other’s paths against all odds. That’s why I love the idea that destiny (or whatever you want to call it) had been at work long before either Emma or Killian were born.

Emma’s parents shared an epic, true love story. I like to believe that, too, is something Emma and Killian have in common. Wouldn’t it be beautiful if Killian’s parents had also shared true love and had a beautiful love story in their own sort of scoundrel way?

It honestly gives me so many feels and I can say that was one of the main things that made me start writing the CS alternative season 7 fic. Killian deserved better and I felt a genuine need to explore more of his role as someone’s son. Even if it’s only to fix it in my own head.

Okay, but can we talk about Emma’s reaction to Snow suggesting she should leave until after CS have had pancakes? Can we talk about the way Emma looks at Killian right away? And how her little “hmm…” makes it look like she’s actually considering accepting her mother’s suggestion and wants to see if he agrees to it?

“I don’t know, babe, do you think we have time?”

“Hell yes. What do you say, babe?”

“Fine for me… Still feeling like it, babe? I can totally send her away and then call her when we’re done.”

But then Killian says he’s lost his appetite and she can do nothing but smile and kiss his cheek. Maybe some other time, Emma.

Emma still has part of her walls up at this point in their relationship, but unlike before, Killian is now comfortable enough to do some pushing. He now knows that Emma has feelings for him and that her reluctance to spend more time with him has nothing to do with external influences (as she claims) – it’s because the very long, romantic kiss they shared the night before was an important step in their relationship and Emma is scared and doesn’t know what to do next. But to me that’s not even the best part of this scene. The way Emma doesn’t even attempt to fight him when he calls her out on her crap is what’s so satisfying. That’s her own way of letting him know that he is right, that she can’t keep running away from him. She knows that she has feelings for him and that she wants to kiss him again (and she does), but she isn’t sure where to go from there. Avoiding him is what’s easier, at least until she has the time to figure things out. The gentle yet surprisingly intimate kiss she gives him is her own way of reassuring him that yes, she does want to be with him, she wants to kiss him, but he will just have to give her some more time.

CS little moments appreciation [3/?]

Yay! Another “Tallahassee” moment 🙂 The foreshadowing of this sentence is just too big to not notice when you look back on that very significant episode. But I think the most important thing about this moment is Emma’s look at the end. Because it looks like she is foreshadowing the exact same thing.

His behavior which is so similar to the way she used to be, but especially what it made her feel, that was so familiar to what she felt with Neal. All of that made her look at the sentence that he said in a very meaningful way. She was actually looking to him, the thing that was right in front of her, and could just feel it. You can actually see her wondering if him was that thing she needed. But then a second later you could see her fear in her eyes that she just had that thought.

That sentence did end up to be true in regard to the two of them, and as always it all goes back to Tallahassee, but it became true only after she allowed herself to overcome that fear, and acknowledge that everything she needed was right in front of her at that moment.

Reading your thoughts on CS’ happy ending is like a breath of fresh air. Sometimes I think when you’re invested in something it’s really easy to get caught up in the smallest details and become the worst critic, obsessing over what did and what did not happen, etc. but at the end of the day we got to see them go off and live happily ever after, married, madly in love and pregnant. How many couples on tv shows get to have all of this? Not many. I’m definitely grateful for what we got.

(Cont) I was ecstatic when we found out Emma was pregnant but it felt tainted and I couldn’t enjoy it because of the amount of anger and complaining on here and Twitter. Emma got the most beautiful happy ending and she’s my favorite character. I had been waiting for that moment for 6 years but I felt like I couldn’t even enjoy it bc of everyone yelling about how dissatisfied they were. I’m just glad there’s people on here that can see the bigger picture, so thank you

You’re welcome. You’re exactly right when you wonder how many couple on TV get this. (Though I feel like we should have a talk about curating your social media consumption to improve your fandom experience.)

Very few ships are even canon, let alone get the full compliment of slow burn goodness, staying together, and hitting the important milestones. Lucky CS shippers got all that, we got to watch them go from enemies to allies to friends to lovers, we actually watched them fall in love and witnessed their first kiss and their first hug, we went along on the first date, we watched the proposal(s) and attended the wedding, plus we got so many great heartfelt lines and countless declarations of love (“It’s you” might be my favorite) that it was almost like they were challenging themselves to figure out how many ways they could say ‘I love you’ before they said ‘I love you.’

And don’t even get me started on how pretty it all was. First you start with Jen and Colin who are gorgeous. Then since it was a fairy tale we got all sorts of next level imagery like our OTP galloping through a meadow on horseback and then kissing in a field of middlemists complete with overhead jib shot. They waltzed at balls and actually sailed a ship and fired a canon together. We saw our OTP’s names engraved not only on the most famous sword of all time, but on the actual holy grail, they were confirmed true love by a test from the Gods and blessed by Zeus himself. It was proven by action that each would go to the end of the world, or time for the other, not even death stopping them. Then, to top it all off, their wedding was an actual musical where they got to sing a joyful song full of hope and happiness to each other.

I can’t imagine not being able to appreciate the beautiful journey we’ve witnessed or not being grateful for the joyous happy beginning they’ve been left with.

Sure, there are lots of things many of us would have done differently, however Captain Swan is unparalleled and unmatched and it’s a lot more fun to think about that.

After seeing this extended beanstalk scene from the Tallahassee script, I just gotta say how amusing their early banter will always be, and how much that specific extra interaction highlighted Hook’s inherit Mom Friendedness while also showing how very much he wanted to have a genuine partnership and camaraderie with Emma since the beginning. That, compounded with Colin’s insight about Hook having fallen for her “when he first saw her” just keeps adding layers of meaning to their first adventure together.

Even after all this time, after they’ve been confirmed True Love and are actually married, them bickering and looking out for each other and learning how to work as a team is still enough to turn me into an emotional mess

Because Killian is always so steadfast, especially when Emma needs him to be, and he just made her promise to move on without him because that’s the way it has to be– he is holding his resolve because he knows if he wavers, there’s no way she’ll leave him there, and he’s resigned himself to sending her back to the world when he can’t follow, even though almost everything he’s done for the past couple of years has been to follow her to the ends of the earth so she’s not alone.

He’s gone through that whole horrible scene and stayed composed.

And then at the very last second, when he realizes he’s about to lose sight of her and has to let go, he just panics. We rarely see Killian desperate; usually he’s just resigned to awful things happening and even feels like he deserves it.

But in this moment, he kisses her hand because it’s all he can reach, because he needs to keep touching her as long as he can with this franticness, like he’s ready to fall on his knees and beg the universe No no no no, please please don’t take her from me I’ll do anything, which just destroys me because it’s easy to forget that before they found each other, he was just as lonely, lost and heartsick as she was.

And he was trying so hard to stay strong for her and just crumbled in that last moment because I don’t think anything in his life ever broke his heart this much.

A brief, kinda random, not entirely new CS thought that came to mind earlier: I was imagining a scenario where Emma and Killian are in bed or something and she’s telling him what a big heart he has and how devoted he is to a select (but ever-expanding) group, and then I realized that the same could be said about Emma, and just how incredibly similar they are in that way? That they were both such heavily guarded individuals with these incredible capacities to love and be giving of themselves, but it’s only when around the right people (i.e. each other) are they’ve been able to fully express it. And how that’s part of the beauty of their relationship and journey: how they’ve been able to become more of themselves through loving each other, which they can then extend to others like they’ve always longed to do, because that’s the type of person they’ve been all along

This has been posted a thousand times but I just cannot get over how utterly gorgeous it is. It pains me. I almost have to look away because it wrenches my heart… but the stunning beauty of Emma and Killian’s love draws me in again.

Partners. Soulmates. True loves. Committing their lives to each other after overcoming so much adversity. Husband and wife, facing the future together come what may, with old Hollywood style and glamour. It could not be more perfect.

This moment is pure bliss.
