Oh lord, why do I ship CS. I mean, the first thing, is the chemistry…
I mean, we really hit OTP heaven with Jennifer Morrison and Colin O’Donoghue. I know A&E wrote them, but those two, they made Captain Swan what it was, the perfection.
The next I would go with understanding each other…
They really do. Both orphans, both hurt in the past, and yes, they were different types of hurt, but they understand how it can wound the soul. I love how it just didn’t happen… that it was little moments…
There was hesitance and scars they were both afraid to share, and they knew that about each other. And yes, both were scared, but once they were able to admit their feelings… they were able to speak the truth…
and they were even more scared to lose each other.
Can you picture if Emma and Killian from above were able to travel to the future and see this …
Sometimes I honestly wonder if he was with anyone after Milah. He loved her so much and I wonder if he ever paid off the bar wenches back then the way he did in the missing year.
I actually have a head canon about this. I do think he was with women (it was hundreds of years and he’s a man LOL) but I don’t think he kissed anyone. I could see him seeing that as being too intimate and he wouldn’t want to do that because of Milah. Which could also explain why he’s so fuckstruck after kissing Emma. 🙂
What can I say that hasn’t yet been said about this steamy scene? What I love the most about these kisses is how they go from passionate to gentle and then to passionate again until they escalate into a thirsty “I-gotta-have-you-now-screw-the-pancakes-and-let´s-bang-on-this-kitchen-table” make out session. I think the reason why I find myself rewatching this scene so many times is because these kisses are the perfect mix of the passion and desperation we saw in their first kiss in Neverland and the tenderness and bliss of their second kiss after their adventure in the past. It’s gentle. It’s rough. It’s beautiful. It’s hot. It’s pancakes. It’s Captain Swan.
I miss the way they brought out the best in each other. Hook was such an important friend for Emma … he was the first person she met that she didn’t have an unknown history with. I loved that they weren’t destined .. they fell in love because they were drawn to each other and they confided in each other and they shared things that only they could understand.
For Hook, Emma was really the first person who knew him as a pirate but gave him a chance as a man … she saw past the eyeliner and leather to the kindred spirit underneath and she knew this man had similar scars to her own.
Both of them had walls and the only people to bring those down were each other. And they had the patience with the other person while still being a real couple with fights and disagreements and wrong decisions sometimes being made …
They fought for their love and they won. And we won the best ship with so many gorgeous memories.
For two people who had a lot of baggage and had spend a lot of time alone and relying only on themselves, they both were 100% down with the touching and hugging and cuddling as soon as they were together.
For me “the dam breaking” was in 4×02. Up until that point we were so starved for them to touch, and then out of the blue we got the hug when Emma was rescued at the ice cave.
That is one of my very favorite moments of the whole series. It was just so cathartic to watch them pretty much collapse into one another’s arms with relief.
Finally!
Then once that happened (with Charming hoisting Emma into Killian’s arms in a symbolic gesture of approval) then they didn’t really hold back. The next scenes in the loft with Killian kneeling by Emma’s side warming her up, were about so much more than getting warm. Killian was glued to her side, draped around her, holding her hand, nuzzling her head, and he was doing it in front of everyone. And no one blinked. Not her parents, not her son, not Elsa, they all immediately realized Killian’s rightful place by her side and accepted his overt, but wholesome, display of affection and her eager acceptance of it.
It’s just so pure.
Back in season 3, I wouldn’t have guessed that these two would become such snugglers and hand-holders, but it’s really wonderful. Two people who probably had next to no physical comfort and affection as children, finding a partner they were 100% comfortable with and could finally have that.
This is the first time that Emma really opens up to Killian and allows herself to be vulnerable with him after they silently agree on their mutual feelings for each other. She is not afraid of him, but afraid of losing him once their relationship progresses, because that is what always happened in her previous relationships. As always, Killian reassures her, this time with a “if there is one thing I’m good at, it’s surviving”. I love how right after he says this, Emma’s expression goes from serious to a soft smile to “holy shit, he’s going to kiss me”, all in a span of 7 seconds. She is right. Killian pounces her in a rather passionate way in what also marks the first time that he is the one initiating a kiss. It’s almost as if Killian can’t believe that the fear of losing him is what has prompted her to avoid him ever since their kiss outside of Granny’s. I always read Killian pouncing her and kissing the life out of her as an act of reassurance, but also relief: here he was thinking that his Swan still didn’t trust him and that she wasn’t certain if he was worth it, but it turns out that her avoidance of him has nothing to do with that, but with her liking him so much she can’t bear the thought of losing him. “My silly, sweet Swan. C’mere my love, lemme show you how alive I am.”
This complete and utter happiness is everything I’ve wanted for them since he bandaged her hand on the beanstalk and she left him up there cuz she couldn’t take a chance that she was wrong about him. I’m so glad she gave him something to believe in and something new to live for, and I’m so glad he showed up for her every single day and loved her unconditionally until she could open her heart and let her walls down and love him right back. The entire journey they’ve been on has been a dream and it has ended so, so perfectly. I’m over the moon :’))))
There are so many things about that final CS scene, but can we just take a moment to appreciate how much of a unit they were: always in the same shot, always side by side, with a balanced parental roles and matched outpouring of love and contentment
Just the most solid embodiment of true partnership, as they’ve alway been and always will be
