What gets me about the tumblr fandom is this. If people are happy about the season finale and the CS development–well and good for them! But I don’t like this ridiculing and blaming of people who did not. Especially adding gleeful gifs to posts of such nature. I don’t see people who disliked the finale or felt underwhelmed by it mocking those who liked it or adding gleeful gifs to posts talking about how wrong they are to feel that way. It’s not being greedy or ungrateful to feel unsatisfied with the pay-off at the end of the season. Negative critique is as valid as positive critique.
For all the times the CS fandom blames other sections of the OUAT fandom for their lack of tolerance, we seem to behave the exact same way to people within the fandom towards those who hold so called “unpopular” opinions. The is a TV Show. It’s nice to be united as a fandom, but it is neither required nor fun to be uniform. People are different and hold different opinions.
Some people loved the finale and/or how this season went. They’re allowed to.
Some people were disappointed. They’re allowed to be.
Some people are in the middle – some things they liked, other things they didn’t. They’re allowed to do that, too.
You don’t have to pick sides. You don’t have to let someone else’s disappointment ruin your enjoyment. You don’t have to let someone else’s enjoyment make you feel like you’re wrong to be disappointed.
(And if you do, that’s your choice.)
(And if you decide you must defend yourself against other people’s feelings by trying to make them feel like they’re wrong, that’s your choice, too. People tend not to appreciate it, though, and they tend to be vocal about it. That’s their right.)
Your feelings are your own. Other people’s are theirs. Accept it. It really is that simple.
