This recently published, free-to-access article is one of the best summaries I’ve ever read of the critiques of conventional weight science. From the lack of evidence of an “obesity epidemic” to the “obesity paradox” (higher BMIs can be health protective) to the evidence that weight-based interventions are making people sicker, they’ve concentrated the best work in the field here and cited heavily. It’s also a very hopeful picture for future approaches to weight and health!

If you don’t want to dig thru lots of books on the topic, read this and save it for reference.
